Gyeonggi-do Provides Free Trauma and Psychological Treatment for At-Risk Youth

Gyeonggi Province will support treatment costs for scar removal and psychological counseling for adolescents experiencing psychological difficulties due to scars or tattoos caused by trauma.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that through the “At-Risk Youth Scar Removal Support Project,” which started with the resident participation budget and is now in its third year, it plans to support 30 adolescents this year.

The support targets adolescents aged 9 to 24 residing in the province who meet the requirement of being at or below 100% of the median income. Gyeonggi Province selects recipients through a case evaluation committee within the Gyeonggi Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, which reviews the motivation and willingness to receive support.

Selected recipients can receive up to 2 million KRW per person for treatment costs and psychological counseling services at youth counseling and welfare centers in their residential area.

Gyeonggi Province conducts this project twice a year, divided into the first and second half. Applications for the first half are accepted from March 6 to 20, and the second half is scheduled for June.

Ko Young-mi, Director of the Youth Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Many adolescents face difficulties entering society due to their scars," adding, "Through this project, we plan to actively support adolescents in overcoming trauma and psychological wounds to become healthy members of society."
