[Featured Stock] E8, Samsung's 'Secret Weapon' to Catch TSMC with Digital Twin... Increasing Collaboration History with Samsung

Eate is rising. It appears that news of Samsung Electronics planning to pilot digital twin technology in its semiconductor production line has had an impact. Eate has a history of supplying related products to Samsung Electronics in the past.

As of 11:10 AM on the 5th, Eate was trading at 24,200 KRW, up 3,100 KRW (14.69%) compared to the previous trading day.

The rise today seems to be influenced by reports that Samsung Electronics will pilot digital twin technology in its semiconductor production line. According to a recent economic media report, Samsung Electronics will participate in NVIDIA's conference 'GTC 2024,' held from the 18th to 21st (local time) at the San Jose Convention Center in the United States, where it will present digital twin technology and its applications.

Samsung Electronics is expected to announce plans to begin pilot operations of digital twin technology starting next year at the conference. Notably, in 2022, Samsung established the 'Digital Twin TF' to apply digital twin technology to manufacturing facilities.

In fields with high production difficulty, such as next-generation semiconductors, the importance of digital twin technology increases. It is considered essential because it can improve yield and proactively eliminate risks. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong is also known to have shown interest in digital twin technology.

Yield is the most important indicator in the semiconductor industry. A high yield, which refers to the ratio of normal products in production, means fewer defective products. Samsung Electronics' foundry 3-nanometer (nm, one-billionth of a meter) yield is reportedly still at about 60%. This means that out of 100 semiconductors produced, 40 are discarded.

Founded in 2012, Eate commercialized the particle-based simulation NFLOW, which complements the limitations of existing foreign simulation software, for the first time in Korea using purely domestic technology. Its self-developed NDX PRO is a data-driven digital twin platform that integrates various elemental technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), cloud, and 3D visualization to provide a customized digital twin environment for users.

Eate secured Samsung Electronics as a client in 2022 and has been providing solutions. Additionally, last year, it executed a contract to build a digital twin-based air conditioning management system for Samsung Electronics.

Park Je-min, a researcher at SK Securities, explained, "Since Eate has its own software (SW), it can respond more quickly to market development and is expected to achieve a higher level of sales leverage. The software it provides has differentiating features compared to existing simulation software, so it is expected to penetrate the digital twin market as a major player."
