Kooksoondang Celebrates 10th Anniversary of 'Baekseju Maeul Paris Branch' Opening

Baekseju Village Paris opened its first store in Europe in March 2014 as the first Korean traditional liquor specialized company to do so. Located in the Gobelins district on the border of the 13th and 5th arrondissements of Paris, France, it opened with a total seating capacity of about 50 seats and has been operating at the same location for 10 years.

Baekseju Village Paris opened at a time when Korean food and liquor were not well known in Europe. Kooksoondang explained that the concept of a specialty bar where Korean traditional liquor and food culture can be enjoyed together has been consistently maintained, which is the reason for the stable operation of the store over the past 10 years.

At the time of opening, to deliver the authentic taste of Korea, ingredients were imported from Korea, and the main chef was dispatched from Baekseju Village in Korea, who had 8 years of experience, to directly prepare traditional Korean dishes. The main chef is still an expert dispatched from Baekseju Village in Korea.

The store interior was designed based on the 'Baekseju Village' design operated in Korea, decorated as much as possible in a Korean style. The menu has maintained Korean script as the basic notation since the opening 10 years ago, with French descriptions below, giving the authentic Korean feel.

A Kooksoondang official said, "We opened Baekseju Village Paris in Paris, a city renowned for its gourmet culture, despite the difficulties of low local understanding of Korean food and liquor 10 years ago," adding, "As K-food is spreading worldwide recently, we will make more diverse efforts to promote Korean liquor that suits this trend."
