Gwangjin-gu Expands Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support to All Age Groups

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is expanding the support for the Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee insurance premium, which was previously provided only to young adults, to all age groups.

The "Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Insurance Premium Support Project" is a program that supports up to 300,000 KRW of the insurance premium paid by subscribers of the Jeonse deposit insurance. It was launched last year to prevent Jeonse fraud targeting young adults who are new to society.

From this year, the age restriction has been removed. Due to the rapid increase in cases where tenants fail to receive their Jeonse deposit back after the lease contract ends, the target beneficiaries have been expanded. Support will be provided to low-income individuals of all ages, not only young adults without housing, until the budget is exhausted.

The eligible applicants are homeless residents of Gwangjin-gu who are tenants with a return guarantee on a deposit of 300 million KRW or less. The income requirements differ: young adults (ages 19-39) must have an annual income of 50 million KRW or less, middle-aged adults 60 million KRW or less, and newlywed couples 75 million KRW or less.

Applications can be submitted through the Housing Management Division of Gwangjin-gu Office or via Government24. The selection results will be individually notified within 30 days after verifying eligibility. The insurance premium support is provided in cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, "A protective system is needed to help low-income groups who are relatively vulnerable to Jeonse fraud," and added, "We will actively support stable housing life without unfair damage."
