Seoul National University, School of Advanced Convergence Launch Ceremony: "Innovation through Convergence Education"

Seoul National University announced on the 4th that it held the inauguration ceremony for the School of Advanced Convergence.

The School of Advanced Convergence at Seoul National University consists of five majors: Digital Healthcare, Convergence Data Science, Sustainable Technology, Next-Generation Intelligent Semiconductors, and Innovative New Drugs, with a total enrollment capacity of 218 students.

To cultivate the next-generation leaders who will lead advanced future industries, Seoul National University formed the "Task Force for the Establishment of the School of Advanced Convergence" in May last year.

In July last year, the "Preparation Committee for the Establishment of the School of Advanced Convergence" (headed by Professor Song Junho of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) was launched, securing a total of 22 faculty members before the inauguration through special recruitment of new faculty and reassignment and concurrent appointments of existing faculty.

The recruitment of freshmen for the 2024 academic year has also been completed. Collaborating with the mentor group "SNUTI SUPPORTERS," composed of 100 students selected from about 20 colleges within the university, they held a new student orientation and welcome event. The areas around Buildings 18 and 19 on the Gwanak Campus were remodeled in preparation to welcome the new students of the School of Advanced Convergence.

At the event, President Yoo Hong-rim emphasized the future value of convergence education in his congratulatory speech.

Dean Song Junho of the School of Advanced Convergence expressed gratitude for the school's establishment based on the full support of the university headquarters and close cooperation among various university institutions, stating, "With the spirit of pioneering new routes, we will achieve creative convergence educational innovation."
