Hwang Kyung-a, Chairman of Gwangju Nam-gu Council, "Committed to Legislative Activities Without Losing Initial Resolve"

29th Anniversary Ceremony of Nam-gu Council Opening

"With the vision of a researching council, a clean council, and a communicating council, I will do my best in legislative activities without losing my original intention."


Hwang Kyung-ah, Chairperson of Nam-gu Council in Gwangju Metropolitan City, expressed her reflections and determination through a commemorative speech at the '29th Anniversary Ceremony of Nam-gu Council' held on the morning of the 4th in the main conference hall of the government building.

Chairperson Hwang explained, "The status has been strengthened through the independence of personnel authority in local councils and the introduction of professional policy support personnel," emphasizing that she will fulfill the heavy authority and responsibility befitting this.


She pledged, "The 11 members of Nam-gu Council deeply engrave the saying that the answer lies in the field, and wherever the residents of Nam-gu are, we will visit and communicate with them, and we will definitely keep our promises to the residents."


She added, "I ask for the residents' generous support and backing so that our Nam-gu Council can continue to serve as a driving force leading local autonomy through active legislative activities."


Furthermore, she stated, "Conflicts due to international wars are intensifying, and unpredictable natural disasters caused by environmental issues are becoming frequent. At times like these, the council will maintain an equal balance with the executive branch, unite and cooperate to ensure that current projects are properly promoted."


The commemorative event was held with about 130 attendees, including former district council members, current city council members, the district mayor, and senior district officials. The program proceeded with Chairperson Hwang's commemorative speech, congratulatory remarks by Kim Byung-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu, and an awards ceremony for 17 former council members and Nam-gu residents.
