"Calling the sound of flowing water noise, and the sound of stagnant water rotting neglect"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 4th regarding the nomination controversy raised inside and outside the party, "I ask you to look at the reality, not information that has been intentionally manipulated or distorted by someone." He completely denied the controversy over private recommendations (sacheon).
On the same day, after introducing a headline comparing the nomination situations of the People Power Party and the Democratic Party, Lee said, "I was worried about what it would be like in front of our party regarding the Democratic Party's nomination, so I went about 45 minutes before the Supreme Council meeting on Friday (the 1st) evening," adding, "I deliberately went to listen to the voices of those who were protesting or staging a sit-in, but surprisingly, there was no one."

He said, "Why wouldn't there be protests against the Democratic Party's nomination?" but added, "We did not force nominations. We guaranteed competition as much as possible." Lee claimed, "The sound of flowing water is called noise, but the sound of stagnant water rotting is ignored." He was criticizing the situation where many incumbent lawmakers of the People Power Party are being nominated.
He continued, "(The ruling party) seems to be actively nominating prosecutors now. While the media praises it as a quiet nomination, the People Power Party is quietly excluding the top candidate and nominating close aides," he rebutted. Lee said, "The People Power Party's reckless prosecutor nominations, close aide nominations, gag nominations, and rotten water nominations have caused tremendous noise with self-immolations, head-shaving, and chaos," adding, "They treat this chaotic nomination as a very small part of a quiet nomination, while exaggerating a single word of discomfort that inevitably arises during the Democratic Party's innovative nomination process as if a huge crisis has occurred. That is absolutely wrong."
He said, "The Democratic Party is preparing for a new era with new figures as the people desire," adding, "All candidates are competent and have a loyal attitude to serve the people, but among them, we are doing our best to select better candidates who can properly play a new role in the new era that meets the people's expectations."
He added, "Eventually, the matchups will be finalized soon. It will be possible to compare the nomination details," expressing confidence in the nomination process.
