'Sending Kids to School and Starting Work at 10 AM' Gwangju Bank's Experiment

For First Graders... Until May 31

Gwangju Bank announced on the 4th that it will implement the '10 AM Start Time for Childcare' system for three months until May 31. This system allows employees with children in the first grade of elementary school to delay their start time to 10 AM.

Eligible employees can choose to use this system for two months between March and May. Although working hours are reduced, there are no disadvantages in terms of salary or promotion.

Gwangju Bank has been implementing this system annually for seven years since 2018 through labor-management consultations. This year, 93 employees are eligible, and a total of 623 employees have utilized this system.

An employee who used the system for the first time on this day said, "I was very worried because my commute time overlapped with my child's school start time, but thanks to this, I can not only prepare my child for school but also safely see them off to school, which has halved my worries."

Byung-il Ko, President of Gwangju Bank, said, "Childcare is not only the responsibility of parents but also requires the nation, companies, and society to take the lead together. We actively implement the '10 AM Start Time for Childcare' every year with this awareness. We will continue to promote such welfare systems to ensure a true work-life balance is well established at work and home, and as a leading regional bank, we will take the initiative to spread a positive corporate culture widely in the local community."
