All Schools to Operate Diverse Morning Change Programs

Morning Change Song, Trademark Registration, and Other Initiatives to Promote Morning Change

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced a basic plan on the 4th to further activate the nationally recognized ‘Achim Change (體仁智)’ program from last year.

More exciting and enjoyable Morning Change (체인치, Che In Ji) operation.

Achim Change (體仁智), which wakes up schools in the morning, is a voluntary physical activity that utilizes the morning time before the regular curriculum starts. It aims to restore healthy physical strength through physical interaction with friends and to realize character education.

The Busan Office of Education presented four operational types: ▲day-of-the-week type ▲self-directed type ▲linked with school sports clubs ▲linked with the curriculum, allowing schools to autonomously choose and engage in Achim Change activities.

Among these, the ‘day-of-the-week type’ allows students to participate 1 to 5 times per week depending on the school size. Individual events such as walking, running, and jump rope, as well as team events like soccer, basketball, and volleyball, should be operated for more than 20 minutes considering the school’s conditions.

This year, the program is planned to be operated for all elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the Busan area. Schools requesting infrastructure development necessary for physical activities, such as artificial turf fields and urethane tracks, will be supported.

Additionally, a ‘Family Empathy Change’ program will be operated in connection with parent associations at individual schools to carry out distinctive programs. Parents and schools can decide on the events and operation methods through consultation. This year, it is planned to be operated in 25 elementary, middle, and high schools.

Especially this year, an ‘Achim Change Summer and Winter Vacation Camp’ will also be operated. Utilizing summer and winter vacations, it will provide more intensive programs for students who wish to participate, beyond regular school activities. Various sports facilities operated by the students’ schools or local governments will be utilized.

In October, the ‘Achim Change Harmony Festival’ will be held to share the achievements of excellent program operations and serve as a venue for communication and consensus-building among the educational community.

The Busan Office of Education will also distribute the ‘Achim Change Song,’ created to make physical activities more exciting and enjoyable. Composed in a lively 4/4 rhythm, this song is expected to play a significant role in expanding student participation in Achim Change.

Moreover, the office completed the trademark registration of Achim Change in December last year, branding the Busan-style morning physical activity. The registered logo will be available for use by other cities and provinces, which is expected to help the nationwide spread of Achim Change.
