Samsung Electronics announced on the 4th that the 2023 SSIT degree conferment ceremony was held on the 21st of last month. Through this ceremony, a total of 74 graduates were listed, including 27 bachelor's degree recipients, 43 master's degree recipients, and 4 doctoral degree recipients.

They put in greater effort than others while balancing their busy work schedules with their studies. Lee Min-hyung from Samsung Electronics MI Technology Team (Manufacturing & Technology) who received a master's degree said, "Thanks to SSIT, I was able to find my future direction," and added, "It was a precious opportunity in my life."

SSIT is an educational institution for members of Samsung Electronics DS Division (Semiconductor). It was founded in 1989 under the name 'Semiconductor Technology University.' In 1991, it became the first in-house university in Korea recognized by the government. In 2001, the associate degree program and in 2005, the four-year university program were accredited by the Ministry of Education. In 2011, the bachelor's degree transfer system was introduced, covering the entire curriculum from undergraduate to graduate school. Last year, the integrated master's and doctoral program was also implemented.

Over 35 years, a total of 1,297 students have graduated from SSIT. Among them, 55 graduated with an associate degree, 539 with a bachelor's degree, 605 with a master's degree, and 98 with a doctoral degree. From 2007 to 2022, 573 domestic and international papers were published from the master's and doctoral programs. Among these, 133 papers were published in the 'Science Citation Index (SCI),' a measure representing a country's scientific and technological capabilities.

The significant establishment of SSIT was largely due to the roles of Chair Professor Lee Kyu-pil and Professor Dong Seung-hoon, who planned the 'SSIT Five-Year Innovation Plan.' SSIT strengthened its foundation and capabilities through ▲enhancing field-specialized curricula ▲assigning semiconductor future technology research functions ▲operating liberal arts courses specialized for working professionals ▲strengthening bonds between faculty and students.

Chair Professor Lee said, "Samsung Electronics Semiconductor has grown and developed from a small sailboat into a massive ship," and added, "The people who built, operated, and led this ship are the key." He continued, "At SSIT, responsible for talent development, I will work with great people in an enjoyable way to create a wonderful organization."
