'Join the Vehicle Carbon Neutral Point System'... Bucheon City Offers Up to 100,000 Won

Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it will operate the 'Carbon Neutrality Points System,' which provides incentives for reducing greenhouse gases by decreasing vehicle driving distances. This is a practical greenhouse gas reduction program that offers incentives ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 KRW based on the reduction in driving distance.

The city will recruit 963 vehicles on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in the Carbon Neutrality Points System from the 11th to the 22nd. The recruitment scale has been increased from 510 vehicles last year to allow more citizens to benefit.

Eligible applicants are non-commercial passenger cars and vans (12 seats or fewer) registered in Bucheon City. However, vehicles owned by corporations or organizations, as well as eco-friendly vehicles (electric, hybrid, hydrogen vehicles, etc.), are excluded.

Bucheon City also operates the Energy Carbon Neutrality Points System as a program to reduce greenhouse gases in daily life. To respond to the climate crisis, it encourages reducing the usage of electricity, water, and city gas in households and commercial facilities, providing incentives based on the reduction rate.

Anyone who is the head of a household (or a household member) residing in Bucheon City or an actual user of a commercial facility can participate. If the usage of electricity, water, or city gas is reduced by 5% or more, individuals can receive up to 100,000 KRW annually, and commercial facilities can receive up to 400,000 KRW annually, depending on the reduction rate.

Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon City, said, "Active participation by citizens in reducing carbon will be the driving force for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050," adding, "We hope many will participate in the Carbon Neutrality Points System, which allows you to practice carbon neutrality and receive incentives."
