The Israeli military recently claimed that the cause of death for more than 110 Palestinian civilians who crowded around a relief truck was not due to their attack but due to crushing.
Daniel Hagari, the chief spokesperson for the Israeli military, said in a video posted on social media platform X on the 3rd (local time), "We have completed an initial review of the unfortunate incident that occurred when civilians crowded around the relief truck," adding, "As a result, the Israeli military did not attack the relief truck."
He emphasized, "The main cause of the Palestinian casualties and injuries at that time was crushing."
According to information collected from ground forces and commanders deployed in the Gaza Strip, warning shots were fired to prevent crushing as people crowded around the truck, and subsequently, many looters approached Israeli soldiers and threatened them.
Hagari claimed that in this situation, Israeli soldiers returned fire toward multiple individuals.
He explained, "As a professional military force that abides by international law, we have thoroughly reviewed our operations to prevent such situations from recurring during relief activities and interrogated those involved to examine the incident in more detail."
Finally, he stated, "Our war opponent is Hamas, not the residents of the Gaza Strip," and added, "This is precisely why we conduct relief activities and open humanitarian corridors."
On the 29th of last month, thousands of residents crowded around a truck loaded with relief supplies at the Nabusi intersection west of Gaza City, the largest city in the Gaza Strip.
