According to 'Fuel Economy,' a fuel-saving information site jointly operated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the 3rd, the Ioniq 6 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model (18-inch wheels) recorded a combined fuel efficiency of 140 MPGe, earning the title of 'highest fuel efficiency vehicle.' MPGe is the unit currently used by the U.S. EPA to measure electric vehicle fuel efficiency, with a lowercase 'e' appended to electric vehicles.

With this, the Ioniq 6 has been recognized for two consecutive years by the EPA as an electric vehicle with top-level efficiency, following its certification as a 2023 model last year. Previously, the Ioniq 6 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model also ranked first in the electric vehicle driving range evaluation results released last month by the U.S. automotive specialist website 'Edmunds.' This model was estimated to have a maximum driving range of 1,396 km with one hour of charging.

The fuel efficiency of this model is five times higher compared to the average fuel efficiency of 2024 new cars (28 MPGe). Fuel Economy estimated that owning this model for five years could save approximately $6,000 (about 8 million KRW) in fuel costs compared to the average.

Among the Ioniq 6 models, four variants including the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model ranked within the top 10 in this survey. The standard Rear-Wheel Drive model ranked 3rd with 135 MPGe, the Long Range All-Wheel Drive 18-inch wheel model ranked 5th with 121 MPGe, and the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive 20-inch wheel model (117 MPGe) ranked 7th. The Kia EV6 Long Range Standard Rear-Wheel Drive model (117 MPGe) also tied for 7th place. Additionally, the Hyundai Kona Electric Long Range (116 MPGe) ranked 8th, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model (114 MPGe) placed 10th.
