On the 29th, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the 2024 Cheongsong-gun Farmers' University entrance ceremony at the Agricultural Technology Center, marking the beginning of education aimed at cultivating agricultural professionals.
At the entrance ceremony held that day, over 130 enthusiastic students gathered for three courses: the 2nd Cheongsong Apple Officer School, the 21st Eco-friendly Apple Class, and the 14th Future Agriculture Class.
Cheongsong-gun Farmers' University was first established in 2004 and has contributed to nurturing professional farmers who lead the continuous growth and development of agriculture in Cheongsong-gun.
In particular, last year, the Cheongsong Apple Officer School course was newly established to address the current issues in rural areas such as the decrease in rural workforce and rising labor costs. It established a practical and theoretical education system focused on multi-axle, two-axle, and dense orchard stopping, pruning, and field-centered training. This year, the education will continue with the goal of cultivating Cheongsong Apple Masters who will lead the Cheongsong premium apple industry.
The curriculum consists of a total of 19 to 22 sessions annually per course, totaling 80 to 100 hours, and is systematically conducted by combining theory and practice under the guidance of professional instructors.
Yoon Kyung-hee, head of Cheongsong-gun Farmers' University and governor of Cheongsong-gun, said, “I sincerely congratulate the students on their admission to the Farmers' University,” adding, “The enthusiasm to learn in response to the changing times will serve as a stepping stone for growth into professional farmers and, furthermore, become the future of the Cheongsong apple industry.”
