The Korea Petrochemical Industry Association announced on the 29th that it has appointed Eom Chan-wang, former Policy Advisor to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, as its full-time Vice Chairman.
Newly appointed full-time Vice Chairman Eom Chan-wang graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Electronic Engineering, earned an MBA from Kansas State University in the United States, and obtained a Ph.D. in IT Policy and Industry from Yonsei University Graduate School of Information.
He entered public service in 1992 through the 27th Technical Examination and has held key positions such as Director of the Power Industry Division and Director of the Machinery and Robotics Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Marketing Director of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, Director of the Trade Cooperation Bureau at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Director of the Electrical and Telecommunications Technology Examination Bureau at the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and Policy Advisor to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
In his inaugural speech, Vice Chairman Eom Chan-wang said, "As the representative organization of the petrochemical industry, we will actively carry out the association’s important missions to overcome the challenges facing the industry," and added, "I will do my best to enhance the rights and interests of member companies."
