Support Target Expanded from This Year... Applications Accepted for Fences, Retaining Walls, and Stone Walls at Risk of Disaster
Up to 5 Million KRW per Fence, Up to 7 Million KRW per Retaining Wall and Stone Wall Supported
Expect Safety Accident Prevention and Urban Aesthetic Improvement through Repair Cost Support
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will provide financial support for the repair costs of roadside fences, retaining walls, and stone embankments that threaten pedestrian safety.
The district expects this project to prevent safety accidents and improve the urban landscape.
The support targets small-scale aging buildings that have been approved for use for more than 30 years, with roadside fences, retaining walls, or stone embankments deemed to pose disaster risks. However, only one facility among the fence, retaining wall, or stone embankment per building can be applied for. Facilities between private properties and buildings that have already received support for the same project are excluded from eligibility.
Last year, support was limited to fences, but this year the district plans to expand the scope to include retaining walls and stone embankments, broadening application opportunities and further ensuring residents' safety.
The support amount covers up to 50% of the total construction cost, with a maximum of 5 million KRW per fence and up to 7 million KRW per retaining wall or stone embankment.
The application period is from February 26 until the budget is exhausted. Applications can be submitted in person at the Architecture Safety Team, Architecture Division, Yeongdeungpo-gu Office (located on the 5th floor of the Health Center building). Related documents and detailed information can be found on the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office website under the ‘Notices and Announcements’ board.
The district will select recipients by thoroughly reviewing the necessity of support and appropriateness of the amount through a first-round document review and a second-round on-site inspection.
The selection of supported projects may be determined based on the building’s aging level, the risk and urgency of the facility, and if construction begins before the selection decision, subsidy support will be excluded.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “This project is directly related to the safety of our residents, so we encourage many eligible applicants to apply,” and added, “We will continue to develop various projects to create a safe and pleasant living environment.”
