According to the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Rural Community Corporation (Head: Jo Young-ho) on the 28th, the Bulgap Reservoir Flood Control Capacity Expansion Project is aimed at preventing large-scale disasters by expanding the spillway and other facilities of the existing reservoir to enhance flood discharge capacity.
The total project cost is 72.3 billion KRW, with completion targeted by the end of this year.
Once completed, the expanded spillway will enable rapid and safe water discharge, contributing to disaster damage prevention in response to localized heavy rains caused by recent climate change.
Vice President Lee Seung-jae stated, “The flood control capacity expansion project not only enhances disaster response capabilities to protect the safety of the public but also strengthens the foundational resilience of agriculture and rural communities. I urge everyone to ensure solid construction until completion to thoroughly prepare for increasingly large-scale disasters.”
