Gwanak-gu Launches Full-Scale Operation of Digital-Based Safety Management System for Aging and Hazardous Facilities

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is newly operating a safety management system utilizing digital technology to systematically manage facility safety and prevent disaster accidents.

The safety management system is a system that comprehensively and systematically inspects the safety of aging and hazardous facilities based on accumulated data using the Internet of Things (IoT).

When IoT sensors are attached to aging and hazardous facilities, the sensors detect the building's ▲vibration ▲tilt ▲crack information every 10 minutes, enabling real-time monitoring.

If a risk factor exceeding the threshold is detected, a text message is automatically sent to the district office's safety general manager and the facility managers of each department to alert them of the dangerous situation.

The district expects that the introduction of the digital-based safety management system will complement the limitations of safety inspections that were mainly conducted by visual checks.

To operate the system, the district held an operation briefing session for the "Digital-Based Aging and Hazardous Facility Safety Management System Construction Project" on the 21st. About 20 facility-related personnel attended, where the project was explained and cooperation for expanded operation was requested.

First, the district selected 20 major citizen disaster facilities such as ▲bridges ▲retaining walls ▲daycare centers, completed construction this month, and will officially operate the digital-based safety management system.

The district plans to discover additional target facilities and install IoT sensors on about 100 facilities by 2026, building a more detailed safety management system.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Due to difficulties in visually identifying risk factors and managing personnel, we decided to promote the safety management system project using digital technology. With the new safety management system, we will predict disasters in advance and respond proactively to crisis situations to create a safe city, Gwanak.”
