Ryu Ho-jeong, a former Green Party Justice member who switched to the Reform New Party, has declared her candidacy for Seongnam Bundang-gap in the April 10 general election.
On the 28th, Ryu held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office in Yeouido and said, "I will run for the 22nd National Assembly election in Bundang-gu Gap."
She emphasized, "I started my first social life in Pangyo Techno Valley, and for nearly 10 years, I have learned and worked in Bundang," adding, "I will renew the premium city 'Bundang Pangyo.'"
She also stated, "Reconstruction and administrative reorganization are the beginning of the 'premium city, Bundang Pangyo renewal,'" and "I will lead the resurgence of Bundang Pangyo with the essence of politics?dialogue and compromise?as my weapon."
Furthermore, she said, "I will also focus on improving the living environment closely related to daily life, which is as important as reconstruction," adding, "It is urgent to resolve the inconveniences faced by Bundang citizens due to aging internet networks, water pipes, and parking spaces designed based on 1990s standards, which cannot wait for reconstruction."
Ryu pledged, "In line with the administrative demands of Bundang, which is approaching 500,000 residents, I will reorganize Bundang-gu into 'Bundang City' and Pangyo-dong, Sampyeong-dong, Baekhyeon-dong, and Unjung-dong into 'Pangyo-gu,'" adding, "I will listen to residents' opinions so that community centers can have administrative district names that they can actually manage."
Before facing the incumbent Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party in Bundang-gap and former National Assembly Secretary-General Lee Kwang-jae, who received a strategic nomination from the Democratic Party, Ryu cited 'newness and freshness' as her distinguishing factors.
She evaluated, "The era of democratization, the era of Roh Moo-hyun, informatization, and the myth of V3 are all things of the past," and said, "(They) lack the newness and freshness needed for Bundang in 2024 and Pangyo in 2028."
After the press conference, regarding her relationship with Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, Ryu said, "We communicate well," and added, "During the remaining period, we will raise expectations and garner support from citizens through the Reform New Party's unique vision and policies."
