Expressing Gratitude for the Hard Work of Medical Staff on the Frontline
On the 28th, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, conveyed the concerns of citizens regarding the recent collective actions in the medical community through phone calls with the directors of two resident training hospitals in the area, Samsung Changwon Hospital and Changwon Gyeongsang National University Hospital, and requested their cooperation to resolve the situation promptly.
On this day, Mayor Hong said, “Despite the shortage of residents and the transition to an emergency medical system, I would like to express my gratitude to the medical staff who are protecting the field for the health and safety of citizens,” and added, “Changwon City will also do its utmost to refrain from collective actions by residents and minimize medical gaps.”
He also urged, regarding the collective resignation submissions by residents, “To prevent a prolonged situation that threatens the lives and health of citizens, please return promptly by the government-set deadline of the 29th.”
Meanwhile, Changwon City has been swiftly responding by establishing an emergency medical countermeasure situation room since the 8th in preparation for collective actions by the medical community, and since the health and medical disaster crisis alert was raised to the severe level on the 23rd, it has been fully operating the Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters with expanded organization and roles, focusing administrative efforts on minimizing medical gaps.
