152 Locations Ready Before School Starts
Expanded to 468 Locations from Second Semester
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Jong-sik) has completed all preparations for the normal operation of 152 Neulbom Schools, which will be operated simultaneously with the start of the school year in March.
To operate the "Warm Gyeongbuk-style Neulbom Schools that everyone enjoys and is satisfied with," the Gyeongbuk Office of Education formed a consensus through a policy briefing session in December last year, and has been enhancing policy understanding and expertise through capacity-building training for Neulbom School administrators and staff at the beginning of this year.
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Education, is inspecting the preparation status of Neulbom School ahead of the new semester.
Additionally, 17 general public officials were newly assigned to the Neulbom Support Centers at local education support offices to assist with the recruitment of temporary teachers and external instructors. One temporary teacher was assigned to each of the 152 Neulbom Schools to handle new Neulbom School-related tasks and various civil affairs starting in March.
Furthermore, silver manpower and volunteers will be appointed to support the operation of Neulbom Schools.
In particular, a Neulbom School Intensive Support Team was formed to discuss securing stable personnel and spaces, as well as sufficient budget. They also conducted on-site visits and consulting to thoroughly check the preparation status.
As a result of the inspection of Neulbom School operation preparations, it was confirmed that all 152 Neulbom Schools for the first semester have completed preparations for normal operation, including demand surveys, securing instructors, arranging spaces, and matching programs.
A first demand survey was conducted at Neulbom Schools, revealing that 67% of students wish to participate.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education anticipates that the demand for Neulbom services will further increase and is preparing additional personnel, spaces, and budget support accordingly without any setbacks.
Neulbom Schools will start with 152 schools that wish to operate in the first semester and will expand to all 468 elementary schools in the province from the second semester.
This year, the focus will be on operating customized programs for lower grades, providing free play-centered programs for school adaptation support, as well as arts, physical education, social, and emotional programs for up to two hours daily. Depending on the school's conditions and demand, various Neulbom services such as Morning Neulbom and Evening Neulbom, where learning and rest coexist, will be offered.
In addition, an agreement was signed with local governments to collaborate on the Gyeongbuk-style New Neulbom "All-day Complete Care" to actively identify difficulties in school sites and provide necessary support.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik of Gyeongbuk Office of Education said, "Yubi-muhan (有備無患) means 'preparedness averts worries.' As we have thoroughly prepared so far, we will actively support the normal operation of Gyeongbuk-style Neulbom Schools in March to create an educational environment that students, parents, and teachers can all enjoy and be satisfied with."
