"Western countries only hold many meetings"
"Macron talks as if leaking urine"
Russia has strongly reacted to French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks suggesting the need for European countries to deploy ground troops to Ukraine. Macron was criticized for making very dangerous statements too easily, with some mocking him as thoughtless. Following Sweden's NATO membership becoming a reality and the anticipated clashes with Russia in the Baltic Sea region, the risk of direct confrontation between the West and Russia is expected to escalate further.
According to Russia's TASS news agency on the 27th (local time), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov harshly criticized President Macron at a press conference, saying, "He should use his head to think more reasonably and safely for Europe," and called Macron's announcement of forming a new coalition to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles and military supplies "an act of suicide."
Earlier, President Macron stated at a security meeting held in Paris the previous day, which discussed support for Ukraine among the United States and European Union (EU) member states, that the deployment of ground troops to Ukraine "cannot be ruled out." He also proposed forming a new coalition to facilitate the supply of military equipment to Ukraine.
Minister Lavrov said, "The West clearly holds many meetings, and especially President Macron is overly enthusiastic about convening all kinds of meetings," adding, "But Europe has always held many meetings without producing any concrete results. Even at the 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference, they promised to support developing countries with $100 billion for energy transition costs, but less than a third of that was provided."
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council and a close aide to President Vladimir Putin, criticized President Macron in even harsher terms. On his Telegram account, he posted a mocking message saying, "Macron, like urinary incontinence where urine is expelled involuntarily, cannot hold back and repeatedly makes verbal slips," adding, "At first, urine flowed into his head, and he became unable to restrain his speech."
With Russia taking such a hardline stance and Sweden's NATO membership effectively realized, making clashes between Russia and NATO in the Baltic Sea region inevitable, military tensions in Europe are rising significantly. For now, Western countries including the United States have drawn a clear line, stating they are not considering deploying troops to Ukraine.
Adrian Watson, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council (NSC), emphasized in a statement that day, "President Biden has made it clear that he will not send troops to fight in Ukraine." In addition, major European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain, excluding France, have also declared that they have no plans to deploy troops.
