Establishes AI Center to Accelerate Generative AI Business
Providing Customer Value with Customized LXM
"Will Become an AI Innovator"
"Starting this year, leading companies riding the giant called generative artificial intelligence (AI) by industry will emerge. LG CNS will play the role of ‘AI Innovator’ to support them."
Jin Yohan, Head of the AI Center at LG CNS D&A Division, predicted that this year will be the first year when companies’ AI capabilities will be clearly differentiated. Jin is the inaugural leader of the AI Center established last month to strengthen LG CNS’s generative AI business for enterprises. His role is to enhance companies’ AI utilization capabilities. The center includes about 200 members, such as the R&D organization ‘AI Research Institute,’ the ‘Generative AI Business Unit’ that discovers related business opportunities, and the ‘AI Business Team’ that executes projects. This strategy integrates technology development and commercialization to quickly reflect corporate needs.

Jin is an AI expert with experience at SK Telecom and E-Mart. In an interview with Asia Economy on the 28th, he stated, “We plan to make this year the inaugural year for spreading generative AI across enterprises.”
LG CNS’s strength lies in ‘customizing’ for clients. Among numerous AI models, they propose the model optimized for each company. To this end, LG CNS has built comprehensive partnerships. They not only provide fine-tuned versions of LG’s massive AI ‘Exaone’ but also collaborate with global players such as Microsoft (MS) and Anthropic.
Jin explained the recent trend in generative AI as “generative AI centered on large language models (LLM) is expanding into LXM, including multimodal capabilities.” He added, “We will optimally provide LXM to customers.” The ‘X’ in LXM stands for ‘everything.’ It refers to models that simultaneously process various data types such as text, voice, and vision.
He also mentioned that LG CNS’s strength is providing comprehensive services to easily use customized AI models. They handle everything from building to operating and managing data platforms and cloud services necessary for constructing and utilizing models. Jin emphasized that AI models must be provided according to the client’s digital environment to create real business value. In industrial fields, AI that works well, not just highly intelligent AI, is required. This means AI that effectively utilizes internal data and complies with security policies and document styles.
LG CNS has laid the foundation to accelerate AI this year. Over the past year, they secured more than 120 use cases across various sectors such as manufacturing, telecommunications, and distribution, and conducted over 20 generative AI proof-of-concept (PoC) projects with corporate clients. A representative example is developing a service that drafts documents for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety using LG CNS’s enterprise generative AI platform ‘DAP GenAI’ and Exaone.
To discover new business opportunities, various experiments are underway within the AI Center. Many cases where AI can deliver results need to be identified to persuade clients. Jin said, “When the AI coding service, a code-generating AI, was applied internally, productivity increased by about 30%. We must change the way we work starting from the AI Center to find the client’s ‘sweet spot’.”
