Bosan Jin to Hold Korean-style ARPA-H PM Recruitment Briefing Session

The Korea Health Industry Development Institute announced on the 26th that it will hold the ‘2024 1st Korean-style ARPA-H Project Manager (PM)’ recruitment briefing session at 2 p.m. on the 29th at Spigen Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

This recruitment briefing session is the first PM recruitment since the launch of the Korean-style ARPA-H project and has been prepared both online and offline to enhance understanding of the recruitment process and increase the application rate.


The Korean-style ARPA-H is an organization modeled after the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). ARPA-H is an institution established under the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2022, advocating an ‘innovative healthcare research system.’ It is modeled after the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and focuses on strengthening NIH’s research innovation and rapid support for industrialization.


The briefing session will be conducted in a talk concert format centered on the theme of ‘The Role of PM’ to share the desired qualities and recruitment information of PMs who will lead mission-oriented research and development (R&D), including answers to pre-submitted questions from key panelists. Through this, it will introduce ▲the PM qualities desired by the task force ▲recommendations on the PM role from experienced PMs ▲and the PM roles expected by mission-oriented R&D researchers.


The PM recruitment announcement will be open until the 22nd of next month. A total of four PMs will be recruited to discover challenging tasks by mission and to lead the entire R&D process including project planning, selection, evaluation, and management. The recruitment fields are ▲Establishment of Health Security Overcoming Unmet Medical Needs Biohealth Innovation Welfare and Care Improvement, with one person each. Applications can be submitted through the online recruitment website, and the selection process consists of document screening (1st round), presentation evaluation (2nd round), and discussion evaluation and in-depth interview (3rd round). Detailed information such as the target for each stage, overview of the selection process, and evaluation contents can be found in the announcement.


Seon-gyeong, head of the Korean-style ARPA-H task force, said, “To respond to the numerous national healthcare challenges we face, research and development ‘as usual’ is difficult to solve them. It is necessary to solve national healthcare challenges with an adventurous spirit, aim to complete missions within a set time, and promote the formation of excellent research teams and packaging of various solutions to achieve the mission. We are waiting for courageous applicants who will join the journey of change for the reorganization of healthcare R&D in the mission-oriented R&D policy trend.” He urged for much interest and applications.
