Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, participated in the ‘Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Play Festival’ held on the evening of the 24th at the Anyangcheon riverside under Omokgyo Bridge, praying for the well-being of the residents in front of the blazing Daljip (moon house).
The Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Play Festival in Yangpyeong 1-dong, established as the district’s representative festival, gathers about 2,000 residents every year to enjoy folk games and seasonal customs with neighbors, creating a time of harmony.
Residents made wishes as they watched the ‘Daljip Burning’ and the fireworks launched simultaneously with the ignition of the Daljip.
In addition, folk games promoting community unity, such as individual and group Yutnori competitions and Jegichagi, were held, and the Ganggangsullae dance, which heightened the festival’s excitement, marked the grand finale of the event.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, “I hope residents create happy memories with their families through the Jeongwol Daeboreum festival, which is hard to experience in the city,” and added, “I wish all misfortunes to be blown away by the burning Daljip and hope peace and happiness fill the homes of our residents.”
