The success was anticipated. It recorded the highest advance ticket sales of the year (369,990 tickets) and attracted 330,141 viewers on its opening day (the 22nd), the largest audience ever for an occult film. It reached 1 million viewers a day earlier than last year's top-grossing film 'Seoul's Spring,' establishing a dominant position.

'Pamyo' deals with strange incidents involving a geomancer, a mortician, and shamans who relocate a suspicious grave for a large sum of money. The film was directed by Jang Jae-hyun, who also directed 'The Priests' (2015) and 'Svaha: The Sixth Finger' (2019), and stars Choi Min-sik, Kim Go-eun, Yoo Hae-jin, and Lee Do-hyun.
