Train operations on the Gyeongwon Line section (Dongducheon Station to Yeoncheon Station) will resume around 4 PM on the 24th.
According to the Korea National Railway and Korea Railroad Corporation, train service will restart with the train departing Dongducheon Station for Yeoncheon Station at 4:01 PM, and the train departing Yeoncheon Station for Dongducheon Station at 4:33 PM.
This section had suspended train operations since 6 PM on the 16th of this month due to a power supply failure. It was investigated that the failure was caused by abnormal voltage and overcurrent occurring in the power supply facilities during train operation. The joint investigation committee analyzed the test run results and determined that train operations are now possible.
A railway corporation official stated, "Along with these supplementary measures, we plan to continuously inspect the power facilities and their coordination with vehicle operations to further stabilize the railway operation system in this section."
The section where trains stopped is a newly opened segment as of December 16 last year, and train operations have been suspended three times for similar reasons.
