At around 2:44 PM on the 23rd, a fire broke out at a petrochemical plant in Onsan-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, and was extinguished after about three hours.
According to the Ulsan Fire Headquarters, the fire started at a crude oil pump in the atmospheric distillation process within the plant.
The fire department extinguished the fire at around 5:41 PM, about three hours after starting firefighting operations.
There were no casualties due to the fire.
The police and fire authorities estimate that the fire occurred due to damage to the pipeline transporting crude oil to the distillation tower, and they plan to investigate the detailed cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
