On the 23rd, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the first Public Housing Integrated Deliberation Committee held the previous day conditionally approved the amendment to the housing construction project plan for the Myeongil 1-dong Community Center public housing complex facility.

The Myeongil 1-dong Community Center (327-5 Myeongil-dong, Gangdong-gu, and one other address) is located a 3-minute walk from Myeongil Station and will be built as a youth public housing complex with 103 units, ranging from 5 basement floors to 13 above-ground floors. The basement levels 1 and 2 will house a swimming pool, while floors 1 to 5 above ground will include the community center, daycare center, and care facilities. The 1st and 6th floors above ground will be designed as open green spaces. The rental housing will be supplied to university students and youth, and convenience facilities such as the swimming pool, community center, and daycare center will be accessible to all local residents.

As a result of this review, the project plan was amended to expand the exclusive area of public housing. In accordance with Seoul’s rental housing innovation plan, to improve quality, the exclusive area of public housing will be expanded from 20, 21, and 23 square meters to 30 and 34 square meters, and household air conditioners and built-in wardrobes will be provided to improve residents’ living conditions. The ramp height was also secured at 2.7 meters to allow delivery vehicles easy access to the underground parking lot.

Considering the limited size of the project site, the city planned to share the driveway and slope between the underground parking lot of the project site and the underground public parking lot of the nearby Yeomjugol Children’s Park. Through integrated development, the parking space will be expanded and spatial efficiency secured compared to installing separate slopes for the two underground parking lots.

The Yeomjugol Children’s Park underground parking lot project is a project by Gangdong-gu to alleviate parking difficulties in the densely populated residential area of Myeongil-dong by constructing 50 public parking spaces beneath the park. Construction will proceed simultaneously with this project.

The Myeongil 1-dong public housing complex facility project is scheduled to begin construction in the second half of this year and be completed in 2027.

Han Byung-yong, Director of the Seoul Housing Policy Office, said, “With the approval of the amendment to the Myeongil 1-dong Community Center public housing complex facility construction project plan through the Public Housing Integrated Deliberation, we will utilize underused, aging public land to not only supply public housing but also actively provide convenience facilities such as a swimming pool to revitalize the area. We will continue to supply public housing that all residents, not only tenants but also local residents, can enjoy together.”
