Strategic Nomination in the Challenging District of Osan, Gyeonggi
EBS star English instructor 'Reina (real name Kim Hyo-eun)' has been recruited as a next-generation talent by the People Power Party. Kim was given priority nomination in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, the constituency of Ahn Min-seok from the Democratic Party of Korea. The problem lies with the students who were taking her lectures. When the lectures related to next year's CSAT, filmed by Kim, were all taken down due to a "review of election broadcasting regulations," some students expressed their frustration.

Earlier, on the 7th, the People Power Party announced the recruitment of four talents, including Kim. At that time, the ruling party explained the reason for selecting Kim as "she has been dedicated to sharing education for youth" and "is expected to contribute to the development of public education content and education policy."
Kim was active as an EBSi English instructor and, despite being in the less popular field of 'listening' classes, rose to the position of a 'star instructor.'
However, some students who were attending Kim's lectures appeared confused. This was because all the lecture videos for next year's CSAT preparation, filmed by Kim, were taken down. Regarding this, on the 13th, EBSi announced, "Reina teacher's lectures have been temporarily suspended due to a review of election broadcasting regulations," adding, "Some lectures will be provided from this week with new instructors, but other suspended lectures will be available again from April 11, after the general election."
Complaints poured in on CSAT-related communities. Comments included, "I already bought the textbooks, so what does it mean to wait until April?", "I wasted my money," "Isn't this irresponsible?", and "This is a nuisance to students nationwide."
Kim was confirmed as a priority recommendation candidate for the Osan constituency in Gyeonggi Province. Osan is a stronghold of the Democratic Party where Ahn has succeeded in five consecutive terms, meaning Kim will be running in a tough district. On the 22nd, Ahn wrote on Facebook, "The People Power Party openly leaked to the media about 'assassin nominations' sending former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, so I secretly expected that, but they actually sent a famous instructor," and added, "Moreover, nominating someone with no connection to Osan as a strategic candidate has left citizens bewildered." Jeong Yoo-ra, daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil), who is serving a sentence for state corruption, has announced her intention to run as an independent in Osan to defeat Ahn, who has criticized her.
