U.S. President Joe Biden's use of explicit profanity directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin prompted an immediate backlash from the Kremlin.
According to major foreign media, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said on the 22nd (local time), "The U.S. president using such expressions about another nation's leader does not hurt President Putin. It degrades America's own values."
He added, "Has Putin ever called you a vulgar name? Never. It is a shameful act," and criticized the remarks. He also said, "It might be an attempt to act like a Hollywood cowboy, but honestly, I don't think that's likely."
President Biden, at a political fundraising event held in San Francisco the previous day, said, "We have a crazy son of a bitch like Putin, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate."
This remark came while emphasizing the crisis caused by climate change. President Biden had previously muttered the same profanity during a January 2022 press conference in response to a Fox News reporter's question.
