The Democratic Party of Korea has designated Seoul Mapo-gu Eul, Seoul Dongjak-gu Eul, Gyeonggi Uijeongbu-si Eul, and Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong-si Eul as strategic electoral districts. Accordingly, incumbent lawmakers No Woong-rae, Lee Soo-jin, Kim Min-cheol, and Yang Ki-dae were cut off (excluded from the primary). Lim Hyuk-baek, chairman of the Democratic Party’s Nomination Management Committee, announced the results of the candidate screening at a briefing held at the party headquarters on the 22nd.

Chairman Lim said, "Before announcing the results of the 5th screening, I would like to first mention the districts designated as strategic electoral districts," adding, "We will transfer the above electoral districts?Mapo-gu Eul, Seoul Dongjak-gu Eul, Gyeonggi Uijeongbu-si Eul, Gyeonggi Gwangmyeong-si Eul, and Chungnam Hongseong-Yesan?to the Central Party’s Strategic Nomination Management Committee." Except for Chungnam Hongseong-Yesan, the other districts had incumbent lawmakers who applied for nomination, so a cut-off decision was made.
