Busan National University and Busan National University of Education Sign Cooperation Agreement to Successfully Implement Glocal Un
On the 21st at 3 PM, Busan City signed the 'Glocal University Innovation Implementation Agreement' at Chungbuk National University with the Ministry of Education (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Lee Ju-ho), the National Research Foundation of Korea (Chairman Lee Kwang-bok), Pusan National University (President Cha Jeong-in), and Busan National University of Education (President Lee Su-ja).
At the signing ceremony, Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Kim Kwang-hoe, Busan City Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, along with representatives from eight local governments and ten glocal universities attended and signed the innovation implementation agreement for each glocal university.
The 2023 glocal universities (10 in total) are Pusan National University-Busan National University of Education (Busan), Kangwon National University-Gangneung-Wonju National University (Gangwon), Andong National University-Gyeongbuk Provincial College (Gyeongbuk), Chungbuk National University-Korea National University of Transportation (Chungbuk), Jeonbuk National University (Jeonbuk), Gyeongsang National University (Gyeongnam), Suncheon National University (Jeonnam), Ulsan University (Ulsan), Pohang University of Science and Technology (Gyeongbuk), and Hallym University (Gangwon).
This agreement was prepared to pledge the innovation implementation of the 'Glocal University Execution Plan' submitted by Pusan National University-Busan National University of Education, designated as a 'Glocal University 30' by the Ministry of Education last year, at the time of the official designation application.
Through this agreement, Busan City plans to actively cooperate in innovation implementation by focusing on fostering specialized fields in regional strategic industries such as semiconductors, life care, ICT and quantum technology, digital finance, and edutech to successfully promote the integrated Pusan National University execution plan.
The integrated Pusan National University will submit the integration application to the Ministry of Education in the first half of this year to promptly proceed with the integration process and promote a future-oriented comprehensive education cultivation model centered on the educational field, including the introduction of Edu-PBL.
Additionally, it plans to establish new interdisciplinary academic units in advanced biomedical and bio fields, nurture talent in Busan’s specialized strategic sectors, and host a global edutech expo to foster the edutech industry.
Kim Kwang-hoe, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, stated, “We hope that the integrated Pusan National University-Busan National University of Education glocal university will become a hub of our city’s innovation ecosystem,” adding, “Our city will actively strive to create a regional symbiotic ecosystem by supporting talent development in strategic industries and specialized fields and fostering local industries for the innovation implementation of glocal universities.”
