Total 2.18 Billion Won, Exceeding Original Target of 2 Billion Won by 110%
1,474 Participants Including Local and External Companies, Religious Institutions, and Residents
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that the '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' project, conducted from November last year to this month, achieved the highest fundraising amount in history.
The total amount raised reached 2.18 billion KRW, exceeding the original target (2 billion KRW) by 110%. This is 250 million KRW more than last year.
This achievement was made possible by the donation activities of 1,474 individuals from local and external businesses, religious organizations, and residents despite the economic downturn and steep inflation.
In particular, the efforts of local residents stood out. Fourteen community center heads from 14 neighborhoods, who served as warm winter campaign ambassadors, along with about 1,300 honorary social welfare officers, explained the purpose of the project to residents and encouraged donations in their respective roles.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Thanks to the unified efforts of people from all walks of life, we have achieved the highest fundraising amount ever. I am grateful to everyone who participated in the fundraising despite difficult circumstances.”
The donated goods will be delivered to vulnerable households facing difficulties in the area through community centers and social welfare organizations. The funds will be used for emergency living expenses, medical costs, housing support for crisis households, heating and cooling expenses for elderly recycling collectors, and academy linkage projects for low-income students.
Meanwhile, the '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' is a representative winter welfare project promoted annually by the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest and Dobong-gu to spread a culture of sharing through fundraising activities and to help neighbors in need within the community.
