Utilizing AI Care Robot 'Kati' for Developmental Disability Education Assistance and Care Support Until December

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that starting from March, it will utilize AI (artificial intelligence) care robots to assist with education and provide care support for people with developmental disabilities.
The district planned the 'Educational Assistance and Care Robot for People with Developmental Disabilities' project by introducing smart technology into care services to address the lack of education and counseling infrastructure for people with developmental disabilities. It was finally selected for the 'Seoul Care Robot Testbed Seoul Demonstration Support Project' competition.
Accordingly, from March to December, the district plans to provide AI care robots to people with developmental disabilities who face difficulties in education and care.
This project is a welfare service that helps educate people with developmental disabilities and supports home care by utilizing the multi-turn conversation AI for children, 'Kati.' The support targets students of the 'Songpa Developmental Disabilities Lifelong Education Center,' which supports and operates vocational training and job projects for adults with developmental disabilities aged 18 and over.
In the first half of the year, 20 AI care robots using 'Kati' will be provided to the Lifelong Education Center to support educational assistance and care services.
The AI care robot using 'Kati' supports classes by enabling various educational activities with dolls and has ▲basic daily conversation functions and ▲singing functions such as nursery rhymes. Additionally, through sensors installed in the robot, it can ▲greet warmly and interact emotionally, providing great help in emotional education.
In the second half of the year, the district plans to provide robots to the homes of people with developmental disabilities registered at the Lifelong Education Center to support care services.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “I hope that AI care robots using smart technology will provide practical help to people with developmental disabilities who face many difficulties in basic daily life such as education and care,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to prepare various support measures to improve the quality of life for socially vulnerable groups left in welfare blind spots.”
