Accelerating Baseball Infrastructure Expansion Including Winter Training Camps and Sports Park Development
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 21st, it signed a business agreement for mutual cooperation with the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) at the Haenam-gun Office Situation Room, attended by Myung Hyun-gwan, the governor of Haenam-gun, and Hur Koo-yeon, the commissioner of the KBO.
This agreement is part of the Namhaean Belt Baseball Cluster construction project promoted by the KBO and local governments in the southern coastal area, and Haenam-gun is the first in Jeollanam-do to sign such a business agreement.
According to the agreement, both organizations will cooperate for mutual growth by providing consulting and joint use of baseball stadium infrastructure, offering and managing spring training locations, promoting Haenam-gun, and supporting each other to develop baseball and revitalize the local economy.

In particular, as the first project under this business agreement, the 3rd to 4th 2024 KBO Next-Level Training Camp is being held in Haenam until the 29th.
This camp is a baseball talent development program where Manager Jang Jong-hoon oversees the team, and KBO legend players such as Kim Yong-dal and Yoon Hak-gil serve as coaches to guide promising youth players.
Haenam-gun has been accelerating the construction of baseball infrastructure, having built Haenam Baseball Stadium in Bukpyeong-myeon in 2020, and is completing Haenam Sports Park by the end of this year in Pyeonghwal-ri, Samsan-myeon, which includes one official standard baseball field, one multi-purpose stadium for baseball and soccer, and one soccer field. Additionally, an indoor training center for year-round training is planned to be constructed by 2026.
Haenam-gun, which has attracted about 100,000 spring training athletes annually through nationwide competitions and spring training, is expected to see this number increase further through the business agreement with the KBO.
Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, “The Namhaean Belt project will be an opportunity for Haenam sports marketing to take a leap forward.”
KBO Commissioner Hur Koo-yeon stated, “We will actively cooperate to make this project a successful case in the sports industry that revitalizes the local economy and develops baseball.”
