Uiryeong-gun Holds Agricultural Industry-Academic Cooperation Council Meeting

Effective Promotion of Rural Development Projects and Enhancement of Regional Agricultural Competitiveness

Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 21st that it held the Agricultural Industry-Academia Cooperation Council at the Gun Agricultural Technology Center to select recipients for the 2024 Rural Development Project.


The Agricultural Industry-Academia Cooperation Council, chaired by the head of the Agricultural Technology Center, gathered opinions for the effective promotion of rural development projects and the enhancement of regional agricultural competitiveness through a cooperative body consisting of heads of agricultural-related organizations, representatives of farmers' organizations, and professors from agricultural colleges.

At the council held that day, the selection of recipients for a total project budget of 2.2 billion KRW (28 projects in 3 fields), including a pilot project to advance digital farming technology for the entire rice cultivation process to establish a fully mechanized rice farming base addressing rural labor shortages, a pilot project for commercialization technology of agricultural food experience kits, and a pilot project to extend the durability of vinyl greenhouse opening and closing pipes, was deliberated and approved.


The county plans to conduct separate training for the selected farms before the project to improve project outcomes and carry out self-evaluations after the project to discover best practices and devise solutions to issues encountered during project implementation.


No Ik-hwan, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We will continue to discover various projects that can respond to the rapidly changing agricultural environment,” and added, “We will also put more effort into agricultural technology guidance projects to solve difficulties in the agricultural field such as climate change and the occurrence of various pests and diseases.”
