When Jang Sung-kyu visited Shin Gyu-jin's home and asked, "Did you come with a self-owned house?" Shin replied, "It's a banjeonse (half-jeonse). I moved in by stretching myself." Shin Gyu-jin explained the situation, saying, "I only found out that I was a victim of jeonse fraud a year and a half later. The property was found by someone I knew. I was busy at the time, but they sent me hundreds of photos and even gave me moving support funds, making it easy for me to just choose. So I trusted them." He continued, "When I was talking with a friend interested in this kind of thing and told them about my situation, they asked if I received moving support funds and if the landlord changed immediately. Everything matched perfectly. After checking, it turned out to be a fraud."
He lamented, "Usually, when moving, you ask the landlord to prepare the deposit because you're moving out. But I couldn't reach the landlord. In the end, it was a fraud. When I asked the guy who introduced the house, he said since I had insurance, I didn't lose anything, and he seemed to think he didn't commit fraud."
The scale of the damage Shin Gyu-jin suffered is reported to be about 290 million KRW. Shin revealed, "That money was entirely borrowed from the bank. It's money I've never earned before." He added, "While consulting to get this money back, I saw many newlyweds who looked younger than me, as well as grandmothers and grandfathers, tearing up."
