On the 20th, Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, held an informal communication session with local disability organizations and facility managers in the meeting room of Guui 1-dong Community Center.
About 20 people, including heads of local disability organizations, facility managers, and related personnel, gathered to discuss the direction of major projects for this year and the Disability Day event, and to exchange opinions.
In Gwangjin District, there are 9 disability organizations such as the Association of the Physically Disabled, the Korea Blind Union, and Hope Bell, as well as 28 welfare facilities for the disabled including Jeongnip Hall. Mayor Kim came to the site with the responsible directors and managers to listen to the voices of people with disabilities.
During the meeting, various requests were made, including "We hope communication sessions will be held frequently," "Please improve the poor facilities," and "Please purchase and promote products made by people with disabilities."
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho responded, "Disability welfare starts with the independence of people with disabilities. Jobs for people with disabilities are important for their independence. This year, we created 169 jobs for people with disabilities, a 9% increase compared to last year."
This year, the district allocated a budget of about 242 million KRW for 9 projects in 7 areas to protect and foster disability organizations. The details include ▲ public projects for disability culture and leisure services ▲ rehabilitation program support ▲ informatization projects ▲ Disability Day commemorative events ▲ operational expense support ▲ facility function reinforcement ▲ and visits to organizations.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin District said, "I came out to check if there are any difficulties or inconveniences faced by people with disabilities," and added, "We will do our best to create a Gwangjin District where everyone, regardless of disability, lives well together through organic communication."
