"Enhancement of Ethical Awareness"
The National Credit Union Federation of Korea (Saemaeul Geumgo Joonganghoe) has established ethical guidelines for its executives and employees. It explained that this was to practice ethical and compliance management at Saemaeul Geumgo and to enhance the ethical awareness of its executives and employees since January.
These guidelines formalize the existing code of ethics as a separate directive. They were created to prevent violations of the code of ethics such as embezzlement and workplace harassment, to enhance Saemaeul Geumgo's external credibility, and to strengthen internal controls.
Specifically, the guidelines stipulate matters related to the ethical principles that executives and employees must follow, including the ethical charter, code of ethics, and code of conduct. The ethical charter defines the values related to basic compliance matters for Saemaeul Geumgo executives and employees, such as ethical management, anti-corruption, and legal compliance. The code of ethics contains directions on ethical responsibilities toward customers, the nation, and society, as well as service ethics for executives and employees, guiding proper decision-making and ethical judgment standards. The code of conduct specifies concrete behavioral standards such as fair job performance, prohibition of receiving undue benefits, and prohibition of unfair trade practices.
A representative of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea stated, “We hope that the ethical guidelines for Saemaeul Geumgo executives and employees will become a new opportunity to raise ethical awareness at Saemaeul Geumgo,” and added, “We will continue our efforts to build a Saemaeul Geumgo trusted by customers.”
