Miryang-si, Recruiting Students for Strawberry 6th Industry University Training Program

Selected as the Site for the 'Miryang Strawberry Rural Convergence Industry Zone Development Project'

Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it will operate the Strawberry 6th Industry University in collaboration with the Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries at the Miryang Agricultural Technology Center's Farmer Education Hall from March to November.

In 2021, Miryang City was selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as the target site for the 'Miryang Strawberry Rural Convergence Industry Zone Creation Project.' From 2022 until last year, the Strawberry 6th Industry University operated 16 courses, including strawberry smart farm cultivation technology, producing 495 graduates.

Especially this year, customized education tailored to different levels will be provided to returnees to farming and young entrepreneurs to strengthen strawberry cultivation skills and nurture professional farmers producing high-quality Miryang strawberries.

Anyone aged 19 or older with an address in the city can apply for the education. Those wishing to participate must submit an application form to their local eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center by March 5. The recruitment numbers are 50 for the basic and 50 for the advanced strawberry smart farm cultivation technology courses, and 30 for the strawberry 6th industry processing course, totaling 130 people.

Kim Gyeong-ran, head of the 6th Industry Division, said, “This year, the Strawberry 6th Industry University plans to consecutively open a practical education course on natural enemies and a customized image marketing course for future agriculture in the AI era to cultivate talents who will lead the smart 6th industry.” He added, “Miryang City will continue to discover education programs that can enhance farmers’ capabilities and increase the added value of agricultural products.”
