A public official affiliated with the Buk-gu Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City was caught driving under the influence and received a minor disciplinary action.
Buk-gu recently held a personnel committee meeting and announced on the 20th that Mr. A (grade 6 or below) was given a one-month salary reduction for violating the duty to maintain dignity.
Mr. A was caught by the police while driving under the influence near his home in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do.
The crime was revealed after a citizen reported a suspected drunk driving vehicle to the police.
Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was 0.046% (license suspension level), and according to the disciplinary standards for public officials driving under the influence, those with less than 0.08% BAC are subject to salary reduction to suspension.
Mr. A received the lowest penalty within this standard, a salary reduction.
Disciplinary actions for public officials are divided into severe penalties such as dismissal, removal, demotion, and suspension, and minor penalties such as salary reduction and reprimand. Among these, salary reduction is a measure that reduces one-third of the salary for a period of one to three months.
Meanwhile, Mr. A was recently prosecuted for drunk driving and received a summary order with a fine of 2 million won.
