Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 20th that it has been finally selected for the ‘2024 Cultural Industry Promotion Support Project’ organized by the Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Promotion Agency).

The Cultural Industry Promotion Support Project is a program by the Promotion Agency that discovers and supports content linked to excellent historical, cultural, and tourism resources within the province. Among the six projects in three fields?‘Immersive Content,’ ‘Performance Content,’ and ‘ICT Convergence Content’?recruited by the Promotion Agency this year, Naju City was selected in the ‘Immersive Content’ field, securing a total project budget of 300 million KRW, including 150 million KRW in national funds (and 150 million KRW in city funds), achieving a remarkable success.

The immersive content applied for by the city is a 10-minute interactive video content that allows users to experience the cultivation process of Naju pears together with the child farmer ‘Ihwa,’ and it will be installed on the second floor of the Pear Culture Hall at the Naju Pear Museum.

The city plans to sign a business agreement with the Promotion Agency within this month, develop the content and build the experience center by December this year, and open it to the public starting January next year.

Currently, the museum is promoting various projects such as pear picking experiences and Culture Day events. The city plans to expand these projects, hold planned exhibitions linked with the immersive content, and establish group experience courses for kindergartens and elementary schools to develop the site into a nationwide tourist attraction.

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “Since the opening of the Naju Pear Museum in 1992, there has been no significant change since the exhibition hall remodeling in 2004,” and added, “We expect to provide a more innovative experience through the selection of this immersive content contest project.”

He continued, “Once the immersive content experience center is established at the Naju Pear Museum, it is expected to become a landmark that offers sightseeing, fun, and educational value for children,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the Pear Museum establishes itself as a cultural space beyond the local region.”
