Gyeongbok University is promoting interdisciplinary convergence among departments and breaking down boundaries between majors.
Gyeongbok University announced on the 20th that it recently held a major track design workshop by career field to promote interdisciplinary convergence among departments and break down boundaries between majors as part of the educational innovation project under the Specialized College Innovation Support Project.
This workshop was conducted with the goal of guaranteeing students' practical educational choices through track design and operation, and fostering creative convergence-type talents who can adapt to changing social demands through interdisciplinary majors.
Previously, to design major tracks by career field, all 26 departments held workshops step-by-step from November 27 to December 28 last year, and on January 15 of this year, a public hearing was held for all faculty and staff to gather opinions based on the designed results.
At the public hearing, Gyeongbok University held explanations of 69 tracks and track guides, with participation from faculty, staff, and members of all 26 departments, engaging in in-depth discussions on the operation of the track system.
Starting with this year's freshmen, Gyeongbok University will introduce flexible semesters, multi-semesters, and intensive semesters to ensure flexibility in the academic system and guarantee students' learning rights.
