A total of 832 applicants applied for the three core fields and four convergence majors, and after document screening and evaluation of successful candidates, 599 were finally selected.
The three core fields are smart port logistics, eco-friendly smart ships, and clean energy convergence parts and materials, and the four convergence majors are smart port logistics, smart international logistics, smart marine mobility, and clean energy major.
BITS Shared University students will receive an innovative talent support fund (500,000 KRW per credit) to enhance their capabilities, and can also participate in advanced major courses using BITS Shared University’s remote education infrastructure (educational content, academic and learning information systems, etc.) as well as various extracurricular programs.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “BITS Shared University and the Busan Regional Innovation Platform will become a hub of regional innovation that connects the talents and jobs necessary for Busan to leap forward as a global hub city, leading to regional settlement. We will actively cooperate so that young people can freely pursue their dreams in Busan.”
Busan City has been continuously striving to break down barriers between the region and universities and build an ecosystem of co-growth innovation based on policies such as establishing a regional innovation-centered university support system (RISE) aligned with the government’s education reform agenda, building a region-led talent nurturing system through the Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS), and supporting the development of glocal universities.
