[Champions Club] Matsuyama's 'Scotty Cameron Prototype'

2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) made new history. He became the Asian player with the most wins on the PGA Tour.

On the 18th (local time), he clinched a come-from-behind victory at the PGA Tour Genesis Invitational (total prize money $20 million) held at Riviera Country Club (par 71) in California, USA. Starting from a tie for 7th place, 6 strokes behind, he swept up 9 birdies without a single bogey. This marked his 9th career win, his first in 2 years and 1 month since the Sony Open in January 2022, with a winner's prize of $4 million (approximately 5.3 billion KRW).


Matsuyama’s green play stood out. Using a Scotty Cameron prototype putter, he demonstrated inspired putting skills. Over four days, his average number of putts was 25.75 (tied for 3rd), which was impressive. His strokes gained putting totaled 13.284, ranking 1st among 70 participants. Especially on the final day, he recorded three sets of three consecutive birdies. His greens in regulation rate was 77.78% (tied for 2nd), his scrambling ability?making par or better when missing greens?was 100% (tied for 1st), and his number of putts was 23 (tied for 1st).
