In the men's golf weekly world rankings announced on the afternoon of the 18th (local time), he earned 3.2511 points, soaring 35 spots from 55th place last week. He accumulated points by winning the Genesis Invitational (total prize money $20 million) on the PGA Tour, which concluded that morning at Riviera Country Club (par 71) in California, USA. This is his 9th career victory, his first in 2 years and 1 month since the Sony Open in January 2022, with a winner's prize of $4 million (approximately 5.3 billion KRW). He became the Asian player with the most wins on the PGA Tour.
Scottie Scheffler (USA), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), and Jon Rahm (Spain) maintained their 1st to 3rd positions. For Korea, Im Sung-jae is ranked 16th, Im Sung-jae 33rd, An Byeong-hun 43rd, and Kim Si-woo is in 51st place. David Puig (Spain), who had no opportunity to earn world ranking points while playing in LIV Golf, jumped from 245th to 141st by winning the Asian Tour Malaysia Open.
