First Standalone Store Opens in Shinsegae Gangnam
Comme des Gar?ons, operated by Samsung C&T Fashion Division, announced on the 19th that it has opened the first standalone store in Korea for its street casualwear-based ‘CDGCDGCDG’ line.
Comme des Gar?ons is a brand that has rapidly gained attention recently due to the increasing demand for travel to Japan. It is often cited as a must-buy brand when traveling to Japan. A Samsung C&T official stated, "With the boom in travel to Japan, customer engagement with Comme des Gar?ons is very high," adding, "Starting with the offline store, CDG will be newly spotlighted as another line, alongside PLAY, one of Comme des Gar?ons’ representative lines, to enhance the brand’s recognition."
CDG is a line created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Comme des Gar?ons. It consists of various items featuring a bold CDG logo. Representative products include the 84-85 staff blouson, coach jackets, the Alpha Liner jacket in collaboration with Alpha Industries, knitwear, cardigans, as well as accessories such as shoes, backpacks, scarves, and beanies.
Although a CDG line pop-up store was held last September at Stage35, a complex cultural space in Seongsu-dong, this is the first time an official store has opened in Korea. The offline store is designed as an experiential space, featuring CDG’s distinctive box shape filled with black signature logo prints on a white background.
CDG can also be found at the Hannam flagship store Comme des Gar?ons launched in 2010. Along with the opening of the offline store, the line has been introduced to the online mall SSF Shop, where customers can find the same products available offline.
