'Hyung Apseon Au' Potato Chip Meoktae Cheongyang Mayo Flavor Sells 4.2 Million Packs

Nongshim continues its reputation as the 'Original Meoktae Flavor House.' Two new products launched in January, inspired by Meoktaekgang, have sold millions of packs within just over a month, receiving positive responses from consumers.


On the 19th, Nongshim announced that 'Potato Chip Meoktae Cheongyang Mayo Flavor' sold 4.2 million packs within five weeks of its release. This figure surpasses the initial sales volume of Meoktaekgang. 'Meoktaekgang Big Bowl Noodles' also sold 2.3 million units in four weeks, becoming the best-performing cup noodle product Nongshim has launched in the past year.

The Meoktaekgang, which inspired these two new products, has exceeded 15 million cumulative sales since its launch last year and is recognized as a product that has newly opened the 'adult snack' market. The follow-up new products introduced by Nongshim this year are also showing good results, continuing the reputation of 'Meoktae Flavor House Nongshim.'


Nongshim cited the success of Meoktaekgang Big Bowl Noodles and Potato Chip Meoktae Cheongyang Mayo Flavor as stemming from leveraging the Meoktaekgang brand to pique consumer interest and successfully blending the unique spicy and savory taste of Meoktae Cheongyang Mayo with the characteristics of ramen and potato chips. It is noted that the products are not just riding on the popularity of Meoktaekgang but are meeting consumer expectations on their own merits, leading to natural spread mainly through SNS and online communities.


Nongshim is also actively conducting marketing activities. Online, they operate Meoktae promotional sets across various platforms and present influencer collaboration content, while offline, they plan promotional activities linked with popular hof houses that highlight the characteristics of Meoktae products.


A Nongshim representative stated, “Through the good performance of new products utilizing the identity of Meoktaekgang, we are recognized by consumers as the ‘Meoktae Flavor House.’ Going forward, under the theme ‘Meoktae is Nongshim,’ we will introduce various Meoktae flavors to consumers and develop them into long-loved steady sellers.”
