SK Group Holds First 'Weekend' Executive Meeting

SK Group's executive management held the first meeting of the 'Strategy Global Committee,' a regular meeting to share management issues, after changing the meeting schedule to every other Saturday.

According to the business community on the 17th, SK Group held the Strategy Global Committee meeting at an undisclosed location in the metropolitan area, attended by executives from major affiliates including the SK SUPEX Council, SK Inc., SK Hynix, SK Telecom, and SK Innovation, the group's highest decision-making body.

About 6 to 7 executives, including Choi Chang-won, Chairman of the SK SUPEX Council, and CEOs of affiliates, participated in this meeting to share current issues and exchange opinions on internal and external management environments.

Until now, the SK Group Strategy Global Committee held meetings once a month on weekdays, but after the year-end personnel reshuffle last year, Vice Chairman Choi Chang-won, CEO of SK Discovery, took over as Chairman of the SK SUPEX Council and decided to hold meetings every other Saturday. This meeting was the first since the schedule was changed to Saturdays.

Regarding the weekend executive meetings revived for the first time in 20 years since the introduction of the five-day workweek in 2004, insiders and outsiders in the business community interpret this as a move to raise awareness after cases of failure to achieve investment results in major new business areas continued until last year.

Earlier, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won also urged employees in his New Year's address in January to make this year one to reassess the management system and strengthen internal capabilities, emphasizing the attitude of 'Haehyeon-gyeongjang (解弦更張·retuning the geomungo strings).'
